How an electric shaver works
Feb 25, 2025
Electric shaver mainly uses the motor to drive the moving blade to move relative to the fixed blade, so as to cut the beard or hair entering the mesh. The shaving effect is mainly determined by the matching accuracy between the fixed blade and the moving blade.
The fixed blade is usually mesh-shaped, and there are many ways in the manufacturing process. For example, the fixed blade using stamping, corrosion, and re-stamping processing technology has poor blade sharpness, general skin feel, little mesh change, rough lines, and short service life; while the fixed blade using electroforming, stretching grinding, stamping and milling processing technology has better blade sharpness, comfortable skin feel, fine lines, and long service life. The moving blades should be evenly distributed on the moving blade holder, and the moving blade holder is required to have no obvious radial surface runout, so as to maintain the rotation balance of the moving blade holder. Combined with the corresponding speed, it can ensure that the relative movement between the fixed blade and the moving blade is in the best state for shaving. Regardless of the number of moving blades, the purpose of sharp shaving can be achieved.
From the structural point of view, electric shavers are generally composed of a cutter head, a motor, a battery, a plug, etc. The cutter head structure includes a cutter net support ring, a cutter net, a blade assembly, and a cutter net support frame. The cutter net and the blade assembly that cooperate with each other are positioned between the cutter net support ring and the cutter net support frame that are interlocked and fixed. The cutter net support frame is connected to a universal ring below, and a group of connecting shafts and a group of sliding grooves are respectively provided on the universal ring. The connecting shaft is hinged with the reversing hole on the cutter net support frame, and the sliding groove is matched with the hinge shaft on the cutter frame. The cutter head is supported by a support frame shrapnel below. According to the classification of shaving systems, there are currently two main types: membrane type and rotary type. The mesh type uses the reciprocating motion of the blade head to shave the beard. Since the blade head is constantly accelerating and decelerating during the reciprocating motion, it vibrates and makes a lot of noise when in use. The rotary shaving system rotates in the center, and the circular motion can continuously shave the beard in one direction. This method not only makes the shaving cleaner and more thorough, but also does not cause discomfort by pulling the beard. It is also quiet and vibration-free to operate, and the shaving is more comfortable and close. In addition, according to different classification standards such as drive type, power supply mode, external blade form, blade movement form, and purpose, there are many types of electric shavers, such as motor-driven type, electromagnetic vibration type, AC type, dry cell type, rechargeable type, AC and dry cell dual-purpose type, circular mesh external blade, circular slit external blade, rectangular mesh external blade, rectangular slit external blade, rotary type, reciprocating type (vibration type), single-use type, and combined use type.
